Ingredients

  • 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (or white cake mix)

  • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp sugar (for snickerdoodle topping)

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts


Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Layer the Apples

    • Spread apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the dish.

  3. Add the Cake Mix

    • Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the apples. Do not stir.

  4. Drizzle with Butter

    • Pour melted butter evenly across the top, covering as much cake mix as possible.

  5. Snickerdoodle Finish

    • In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle over the top of the cake. Add nuts if desired.

  6. Bake

    • Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
